As a newborn baby photographer, I watch a lot of babies sleeping! They like a good nap at this age, so they’re quite easy to pose and photograph because they stay nice and still most of the time. It’s also not long since they were curled up inside their mummy’s tummy, so they like to be swaddled and tucked up cosily.
I’m always amazed at how tiny and delicate they are too. It’s especially noticeable when I’m posing them in little baskets or their parents’ hands. I also love the fact that I can whizz around them, snapping away with my camera and they don’t even notice! They’re too busy snoozing and dreaming.
I like being able to capture the peace and tranquility of a sleepy newborn before they quickly grow into a curious and active baby. The calm newborn phase doesn’t last that long, so it’s always nice to be able to capture it on camera for the family to look back on.
Not sure what direction you’d like to take for your own photography shoot? Having a look through other blogs and the above links is great for a bit of inspiration. Whether you already know what you want your photographs to look like, or you’d like some guidance, contact me. If you get in touch before the session, we can discuss things thoroughly. Being prepared makes everything so much easier and more relaxed on the day, so you can enjoy yourself.
