As a newborn baby photographer, I watch a lot of babies sleeping! They like a good nap at this age, so they’re quite easy to pose and photograph because they stay nice and still most of the time. It’s also not long since they were curled up inside their mummy’s tummy, so they like to be swaddled and tucked up cosily.
I’m always amazed at how tiny and delicate they are too. It’s especially noticeable when I’m posing them in little baskets or their parents’ hands. I also love the fact that I can whizz around them, snapping away with my camera and they don’t even notice! They’re too busy snoozing and dreaming.
I like being able to capture the peace and tranquility of a sleepy newborn before they quickly grow into a curious and active baby. The calm newborn phase doesn’t last that long, so it’s always nice to be able to capture it on camera for the family to look back on.
